MAY 25TH YANKEE BIRTHDAY QUOTE: JOHN 'THE COUNT' MONTEFUSCO

Happy Yankees Birthday to John 'The Count' Montefusco, born on May 25th, 1950. The Count played for the Yankees from 1983--1986. In '83, he started six games and was 5-0 with a 3.32 E.R.A. He also had a strong 1984 seasons with a 5-3 record and a 3.58 E.R.A. He had a long and successful career especially with the Giants and he was one of the real baseball characters of the 70's and '80s which is what today's baseball quote is all about. "I hope they burn all the newspapers before my kids grow up. I wouldn't want them to know what a jerk I was." --John 'The Count' Montefusco'--

Willy Miranda Yankee Birthday Quote of the Day for May 24th

Happy Birthday to light hitting shortstop Willy Miranda who played for the Yankees in the 1953 and 1954 season. He hit .224 in 1953 and .250 in 1954 with 12 ribbies in 118 at bats. His baseball birthday quote of the day is not a particularly nice one. It comes from Yankee great Whitey Ford who said this about Miranda, when he was not yet playing with the Yankees. Miranda was born on May 24th 1926. "It used to be fun to go into Baltimore when they had hitters like Willy Miranda playing shortstop." --Whitey Ford

MIKE DUNN YANKEE BIRTHDAY QUOTE OF THE DAY FOR MAY 23RD

Today was not a particularly famous day in Yankee Birthday History. Long time major league relief pitcher Mike Dunn was born on this day in 1985. He only pitched four games for the Yankees in 2009 before moving on. "That kid Dunn from what I've seen of him could be a really good one." --Davey Johnson
